charlotte’s matrimony

another great folk find from north carolina…matrimony (jimmy brown & ashlee hardee brown). the song i have below, ‘last love’, had me immediately hooked with the haunting intro harmonies. simple piano and vocals building into a cheerful full-band chorus…it’s a real feel-good folk song. the banjo line in the background completes the sound and just feels like something that would come out of north carolina.

their 6-track debut album, the storm & the eye, was released this past summer and it looks to be scoring the duo a following. you can stream the tracks and purchase the album for a tiny little six bucks (or more if you’d like to be extra supportive) right over here. at the very least, go there, listen to the songs, and give it some serious consideration. good stuff, i promise.
